FAQ’s About Volunteering

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to serve in the soup kitchen, and 16 to operate the dishwasher, 18 years old to prepare meals at the stove.

What will I be doing when I volunteer?

It is like having a special dinner with your family.  Setting up the dining room, prepping food, cooking food, cleaning up.  Sometimes you may be asked to help do other chores as needed on the property (sweep outside, stock shelves, help in the office, clean and organize).

What should I wear while volunteering?  We do have a dress code, and we stand by it.

Comfortable clothing and shoes with rubber soles like sneakers are highly recommended.

No shoes with heels, or open toed shoes are allowed.  No bare midriffs, low-cut necklines, shorts, pajama bottoms or yoga pants.

At what time should I arrive?

We begin setting up the dining room and preparing the meal at 3:00 pm. Volunteers are needed for three full hours when you sign up – from 3:00 until 6:00 pm – to complete the entire process.

How do I volunteer?

Just call the soup kitchen at (603) 437-2833 between 1 pm and 6 pm Monday through Friday and we will make every attempt to schedule you.
