How Old Do I Have to be To Volunteer? PDF Print E-mail

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to serve in the soup kitchen, and 16 to operate the dishwasher, 18 years old to prepare meals at the stove.

What Will I Be Doing When I Volunteer? PDF Print E-mail

A little bit of everything: setting tables, preparing the meal, serving dinner, and leaving the kitchen and dining room ready for its next use.  Ocassionally, volunteers are used the office to help with newsletters or stock maintenance.

Older, comfortable, conservative clothing and good, sturdy shoes are highly recommended. Absolutley no open shoes!  No bare midriffs, low-cut necklines, or short-shorts.

At What Time Should I Arrive? PDF Print E-mail

We begin setting up the dining room and preparing the meal at 3:00 pm. Volunteers are needed for three (3) full hours—between 3:00 and 6:00 pm—to complete the entire process.

 
Why Can't I Volunteer on Weekends? PDF Print E-mail

The Soup Kitchen relies on the generosity of the First Baptist Church, and the use of their kitchen and dining facilities. The church needs their space on the weekends.
